On 25 February 2009¸ the Australian Government announced a $1.5 million package of support for aged care providers and clients affected by the Victorian Bushfires.
This package includes $550¸000 to help frail¸ older people replace independent living aids lost in the fires¸ which they require to enable them to continue living at home or in the community (such as mechanised hoists¸ wheel chairs¸ adjustable seats or other personal items).
